Kou is a rice farmer from Cambodia. She has two daughters, four sons, and 11 grandchildren.
A year ago, Kou developed a cataract in her right eye, causing her blurry vision and photophobia. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside.
When Kou learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, she traveled for three hours seeking treatment. On October 17, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in her right eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $211 procedure.
She says, “I look forward to spending time with my grandchildren.”

Kou underwent cataract surgery.
Kou has returned home after a quick and successful surgery. Kou’s visual acuity has improved, which will greatly improve her quality of life. She looks forward to being able to go places independently and see her grandchildren’s faces.
Her husband says, “My wife can see a lot better now. We are very happy with the results of her operation. Thank you.”
