Meet Sabina, a 10-year-old girl in Nepal who is in the second grade. She likes studying English and playing football with her friends! Sabina is an only child and lives with her parents, though her father travels often for his temporary job at an organization.
Sabina has fractures to the radius and ulna of her right arm. According to our medical partner, Possible, “Sabina was returning home after fetching some water at the nearby public tap when she slipped and injured her right arm. She was in a great deal of pain and she was unable to move her arm after the incident.” As a result of her injury, “Sabina cannot perform even routine activities on her own. Since her dominant arm is injured she is almost totally handicapped. She cannot go to school and cannot help her mother in the kitchen.”
For $205 we can give Sabina the analgesics and cast necessary to relieve her pain. According to Sabina’s doctors, this treatment will allow Sabina “to use her right hand; perform ordinary activities, go to school and read and write. Sabina will have no residual deformity in the future and will be able to lead a normal and productive life.” Let’s help get Sabina back to studying English in school and playing football!
