David is a teenager from Cambodia. He is the youngest of six siblings and wishes to become a police officer.
David was born with scoliosis, which is progressing with age and making it difficult to sit in school for long periods. It is also causing him a lot of discomfort.
Surgery can help correct the position of his spine, and prevent further worsening of the condition. David is scheduled to undergo $1,500 spinal surgery on January 21.
His mother says, “I hope that he will have no issues sleeping and breathing, and that overall he will look and feel better.”

David underwent spinal surgery.
David’s operation went well. Surgery will improve his quality of life by correcting his spine position and allowing David to sit for long periods of time without discomfort. Surgery is also important to ensure he does not further the worsening of the condition. David’s mom feels happy that he won’t have to miss any more school.
His mother says, “I am very happy that the operation was a success and that he can go back to his daily activities.”
