Sieb is an 85-year-old grandmother from Cambodia with three sons, four daughters, and thirty grandchildren. She enjoys visiting the pagoda and listening to the monks pray on the radio.
Two years ago, Sieb developed a cataract in each eye. This condition has left her with blurred vision and tearing. She can’t see anything clearly, do work well, or go anywhere outside on her own.
With $225 in funds, a surgeon will make small incisions on both eye sclera, remove the cataracts, and implant a foldable lens to clear up her vision. After a SICS and IOL implant in each eye, Sieb will be able to return outside safely and independently.
Her granddaughter shares with CSC, “I hope my grandmother can see everything clearer after surgery, so she can go anywhere outside and not worry about losing her vision again.”

Sieb received life-changing cataract removal surgery.
Two years after developing mature cataracts in both of her eyes, Sieb has successfully undergone surgery to remove her cataracts and restore her vision.
During the short procedure, doctors removed her clouded lenses and replaced them with clear, synthetic implants. She can now see everything clearly again and is expected to make a full recovery.
With her restored vision, Sieb looks forward to going outside on her own to places like the local pagoda, where she enjoys listening to the monks pray. “I am happy that my grandmother can see clearly again,” her granddaughter said. “Thank you to the doctors at CSC for helping my grandmother see again.”
