Centrine is a 46-year-old mother of three from Kenya. She is a housewife who depends on limited support and occasional work to help provide for the family. One of her children is still in secondary school, while the other two rely on casual labor.
In 2023, Centrine was accidentally cut on the chest by a wire. Because the injury seemed small, she did not seek medical attention, expecting it to heal normally. Instead, the scar continued to enlarge and developed into a keloid. Over time, what started as a minor wound became a persistent source of discomfort. The keloid causes significant pain, especially at night, and makes it difficult for Centrine to sleep comfortably. She also struggles to bend, carry heavy loads, or walk long distances. At times, walking on steep ground leaves her feeling uncomfortable and short of breath. These limitations have reduced her ability to work freely and to manage everyday responsibilities. She wished for treatment - surgery was recommended - but the cost has remained beyond what her family can manage. Faced with school fees, rent, and basic household needs, she has chosen to take care of her children’s needs first.
Centrine traveled to our medical partner, IcFEM Dreamland Mission Hospital, to receive treatment, and on September 2nd, surgeons there will remove the mass. Now, Centrine needs your help to raise $231 to fund this procedure.
Centrine said: “Poverty has made it difficult for me to seek help for myself. I pray that I can finally have this surgery successfully and live with peace again. Thank you to everyone willing to support me.”
