Edria is a 52-year-old woman from Uganda. She and her husband have been married for 33 years, and together had five children. The couple depends on farming for their livelihood, growing food crops for home consumption and selling the surplus for income.
For the past two years, Edria has been experiencing uncomfortable gynecological symptoms. Following a referral to Karoli Lwanga Hospital, Nyakibale, she was assessed by a gynecologist and underwent an ultrasound scan. She has been diagnosed with multiple uterine myomas (fibroids). She needs to undergo a hysterectomy, a procedure in which surgeons will remove her uterus.
Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $219 to fund Edria’s surgery. On September 3rd, she will undergo gynecological surgery at Karoli Lwanga Hospital. Once recovered, Edria will be able to resume her daily activities free of pain.
Edria says, “We have grown in age. Because I am sick and my husband suffered a stroke at home too, I kindly appeal to you for support; otherwise, I don’t think we will be able to raise the money needed for my surgery.”
