Tu is a 47-year-old agricultural day laborer. He lives with his wife, son and two daughters in Tak Province in the border area of Thailand.
A week ago, Maung Tu was flung from his motorbike after a hit-and-run collision with a car that drove on the wrong side of the road. He hit his head on the pavement and fell unconscious. After his wife found him, she and their son carried him to a nearby hospital, where he received stitches in his head.
Since his accident, Maung Tu has suffered from a near constant headache and dizziness. The vision in his right eye is blurry and he feels dizzy when he stands up, walks or tries to focus.
Doctors want Tu to undergo a CT scan, a procedure in which x-ray images taken from several angles are combined to produce cross-sectional images of the body. This scan will hopefully help doctors diagnose his condition and formulate an appropriate treatment plan.
Our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund, is requesting $414 to cover the cost of Tu’s CT scan and care, scheduled for May 18th.
“I want to find consistent work. I need to support my children,” said Tu.
