Kyenda is a 69-year-old woman from Uganda. Two months ago, she woke up in the middle of the night to discover troubling gynecological symptoms. Kyenda was surprised and scared.
She went to a hospital and was diagnosed with endometrial hyperplasia, a condition in which uterine lining grows excessively. Although Kyenda’s case is benign, the condition can lead to uterine cancer.
Kyenda cannot afford care at a private hospital. After hearing about our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, on the radio, she decided to seek treatment. On December 8, she will undergo a hysterectomy to remove her uterus. This procedure will stop the bleeding and prevent any future complications.
To support herself, Kyenda farms and sells the surplus food. She has two children. She needs help to raise $268 to fund her care. After surgery, she hopes to continue farming.
