Benson is a repair man from Kenya. He is a father of two children aged 20 and 12 years. He works as a repair man for electrical devices. Income depends on the availability of work. His wife is a stay-at-home mother without a separate source of income.
Benson was involved in a road traffic accident over the weekend. The lorry he was traveling in had a head-on collision with another speeding lorry at around 3:00 P.M. last Saturday. He was rendered unconscious and unable to remember the people who brought him to the hospital. Benson says that he remembers waking up in the hospital bed. He was informed that he had a broken leg and face that needed surgery. Benson is in pain and admits that he is worried. He is unable to sit on his own. He is also unable to walk or use his legs because of injuries and fractures he sustained over the weekend.
Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner can help. On February 27th, Benson will undergo a fracture repair procedure, called an open reduction and internal fixation. He will heal well and be able to walk without pain or aid. Now, our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $1,500 to fund this procedure.
Benson says “I cannot feel my leg. My face is also in pain, and I cannot even move. These surgeries will help me to walk and fend for my family.”
