Gay is a 23-year-old woman from Burma. She lives with her husband and her toddler son in a refugee camp in Thailand. She is a homemaker, while her husband works as a day laborer near the refugee camp. His salary is not always enough to cover their daily expenses. She often purchases groceries on credit at the local shop, repaying them after her husband receives his salary. In her free time, Naw Gay weaves and embroider traditional Karen clothes that she sells to earn extra income. Gay is pregnant, and her doctors recommend that she deliver via a caesarean section because of a high-risk pregnancy. This way, doctors can ensure the safety of both mother and child. Our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund, is helping Gay undergo a C-Section on October 9th. This procedure will cost $1500, and Gay needs your support. Gay said, “In the future, I want to work with my husband outside of the camp. My parents said they would look after our children while we work.”

Samuel is a 68-year-old father of five from Uganda. He and his wife earn a living through small-scale farming, growing bananas and beans to support their family. However, the farming activities generate only a limited income, which is barely enough to meet his family's basic needs. For about a year now, Samuel has had a hydrocele. He presented at Uganda Martyr's Ibanda Hospital experiencing swelling and pain, which has been causing him much discomfort. Surgery was recommended, but he is unable to afford the treatment cost, which has placed him in a difficult situation, as he is worried about providing for his family. Fortunately, on October 29th, Samuel is scheduled to undergo repair surgery. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $201 to fund Samuel's surgery. Once completed, this procedure will hopefully allow him to live more comfortably. Samuel says, “I am grateful to the medical team at Ibanda Hospital for the care they have given me. However, I cannot afford the cost of my recommended surgery, and I humbly appeal to the donor program for financial assistance. Following recovery, I will continue farming and work hard to improve my family’s standard of living.”

Darian is a five-year-old student who lives in Columbia with his family. He is an intelligent, charismatic, and very friendly boy. His joy and curiosity shine through every day at preschool, where he interacts with his classmates with enthusiasm and warmth. Two years ago, Darian developed an umbilical hernia, a condition in which a small portion of abdominal tissue protrudes through the navel. He has been experiencing discomfort especially when doing everyday activities like playing, jumping, and enjoying his childhood. Darian was assessed by our medical partner, Clínica Noel, and has been scheduled to undergo surgery on May 19th. Now, his family needs help to fund this $1,005 procedure. Darian looks forward to feeling better so he can practice on being a soccer player! His mother says, "As a mother, I would like to express my deepest gratitude for the opportunity given to my son. The support we have received throughout this process will be essential to his well-being and development, and it represents an invaluable source of hope for our future as a family."
