Saroem is a 27-year-old factory worker from Cambodia, who is married with two sons. He likes to stay at home, watch boxing on TV, and look after his children. Saroem heard about Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC) from people in his village. He traveled for three hours with his wife to reach CSC for treatment.
On 25 December 2015, Saroem suffered an electricity burn on his scalp. He was treated at Preah Kossamak Hospital in Phnom Penh for two months, but it did not relieve him of his symptoms. The top of his scalp is exposed and infected causing him pain and headaches.
For $378, surgeons at CSC will perform a debridement surgery and skin graft to treat the burn and relieve Saroem of his pain.
Saroem says, “After the operation, I hope to have a normal scalp and feel better.”
