Peninnah is 46-year-old mother of one from Uganda. She works as a small-scale farmer, and has one son who is a senior school student.
For the past year, Peninnah has been experiencing a hard palpable mass in her abdomen. Concerned about the swelling, she sought medical attention and underwent evaluation where medication was prescribed. Although the medication initially provided relief, her condition gradually worsened over time. She began experiencing other uncomfortable gynecological symptoms which have affected her daily activities.
Seeking specialized medical care, she went to our medical partner’s care center, Karoli Lwanga Nyakibale Hospital, where she was diagnosed with uterine fibroids, which are non-cancerous tumors that grow in the uterus. She needs to undergo a hysterectomy, a procedure in which surgeons will remove her uterus.
Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $219 to fund Peninnah’s surgery. On September 8th, she will undergo gynecological surgery at Karoli Lwanga Hospital. Once recovered, Peninnah will be able to resume her daily activities free of pain.
Peninah says, “Dear donors, all I have been left with to have my health back is surgery. With my finances, am not in position to afford the treatment, and kindly seek your support.”
