Ezekiel is a 10-year-old boy from Kenya. He is the firstborn in a family of five and comes from Bisri village in Kajiado County. He is currently in second grade and enjoys playing with his classmates all the time. Ezekiel was born with a condition known as Hemiplegic Cerebral Palsy (CP). This condition affects the left side of his body, making it difficult for him to walk properly. He has to walk on his tiptoes and always feels pain in his legs, making it difficult to travel long distances. He has been undergoing serial casting at the hospital before the surgery to make him feel more comfortable. As a result of this condition, Ezekiel also has clubfoot on his left foot. Clubfoot is a condition in which the foot is twisted out of shape, which causes difficulty walking and even wearing shoes. Surgeons will perform Ezekiel's clubfoot repair surgery on September 23rd. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $1,286 to fund Ezekiel's clubfoot repair. After treatment, he will be able to walk easily and play with other children more comfortably. Ezekiel states, “I am looking forward to a quick healing to join my friends in playing football."

Penglong is a 9th grader who lives with his parents and his 6-year-old sister in Kandal province, Cambodia. His parents are rice farmers, and sell vegetables at the market in the morning. At school, Penglong enjoys studying mathematics. He dreams of becoming a soldier when he grows up. At home, he loves eating rice with fried beef, and he enjoys watching soccer with his friends after school. Two years ago, Penglong injured his right knee while playing soccer, and since then, he hasn't been able to play. Just a month ago, his father noticed that Penglong's knees had developed angular deformities, and brought him to our medical partner, the Children's Surgical Centre (CSC), for help. Doctors diagnosed Penglong with genu valgum on both sides, where the knees angle inwards and touch each other when he stands with his feet together, with his left knee being slightly higher than his right. On August 23rd, Penglong will undergo a procedure to correct his knees and align his legs. After surgery, he will be able to walk more comfortably and prevent future complications. Penglong and his family are able to contribute $100 but need your help to raise $369 to fund the procedure, post-op medications, and physiotherapy costs. Penglong shared, "I hope to be able to play soccer with my friends again after my surgery."

Vin is a 16-year-old teenage boy from Cambodia. He lives with his parents and his older sister in Kampong Speu Province. His mother is a housewife and his father is a rice farmer. His 21-year-old sister has a job at a clothes factory in the province. Vin dropped out of school in 7th grade and now helps his father on the rice farm. Vin's favorite meal is fried pork. In his free time, he enjoys playing soccer. When Vin was one year old, he suffered a hot water burn on his left hand, which resulted in skin contractures. This occurs when the burn scar matures, thickens, and tightens, preventing movement. After the accident, Vin's mother took him to a nearby health center, but she couldn't afford further treatment due to money issues. Burn scar contractures have developed slowly around his hand, tightening the skin and making it difficult for Vin to use his hand. When Vin learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC), he traveled for two and a half hours seeking treatment. On May 14th, surgeons at CSC will perform a burn contracture release surgery to improve the dexterity and use of his left hand. Vin's family has contributed $40 to his healthcare and needs help to raise $455 more to fund this procedure. Vin said, "I hope I can move my fingers again and help my father on our rice farm. I want to support the family so my father does not have to work so hard."
