Vichana is a 16-year-old student from Cambodia. He lives with his parents and younger siblings, who are also students. His father works as an electronics technician, while his mother runs a grocery business. Math is his favorite subject, and he enjoys playing football with his friends. He hopes to become a teacher one day. In November 2024, Vichana fractured his left leg after falling while playing sports. He was treated at a Government Hospital, where doctors placed a metal plate and screws in his left femur to stabilize the fracture and support healing. His fracture has now healed, and he can walk without pain. However, the hardware remains in his left leg and causes ongoing discomfort, making him feel bothered during his daily activities. Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, can help. On September 3rd, Vichana will undergo a hardware removal procedure, which will relieve the discomfort caused by the hardware and allow his leg to feel more natural and comfortable as he returns to sports and other activities. His family can contribute $100, but needs help raising $278 more to fund his procedure and care. Vichana said, “I hope removing the plate and screws will get rid of the discomfort and make my leg feel more comfortable. I look forward to continuing my studies, playing sports, and enjoying my daily activities without feeling bothered by the hardware.”

Brillant is a two-year-old boy from Burundi. His mother is a single mother who farms and sells vegetables in the market to support her three children. One year and nine months ago, Brillant was diagnosed with a left inguinal hernia, a swelling in a sensitive part of his body. He cries often, unable to explain how he feels. He cannot play, run, or sleep through the night. He needs surgery to address his symptoms and prevent them from getting worse. Fortunately, on October 2nd, Brillant will undergo hernia repair surgery at our medical partner's care center, Kibuye Hope Hospital. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $197 to fund Brillant's surgery. Once completed, this procedure will hopefully allow him to live more comfortably and confidently. Brillant's mother shared, “I have no one else to ask. I work every day, but I cannot earn what the hospital needs. Please help my Brillant. Help me give him this surgery so he can grow like other children. I cannot watch him suffer anymore.”

The day was a celebration until his motorcycle's brakes went out. On his way home from his daughter's graduation ceremony, Peter was in a serious motorcycle accident. After being rushed to the hospital, he received basic care for injuries to his right arm, tibia and fibula fractures, and an open leg wound. He was then referred to our medical partner's care center, AIC Kapsowar Hospital, for more advanced treatment. The surgical team is planning a complex free flap operation, stabilizing the fractured bone and covering the damaged tissue. The surgery is scheduled to take place on October 21st. However, Peter's financial constraints threaten his recovery. He works as a plumber, and his wife sells second-hand clothing with enough earnings to cover daily expenses, but not a complex and unexpected leg surgery. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $1,500 to help cover Peter's surgery and recovery, restoring both his quality of life and ability to work.
