Sok Orn is a 45-year-old rubber farmer from Cambodia. She is married and lives with her husband, who is also a rubber farmer in Tbong Khmum Province. Around their home, she enjoys planting vegetables in her free time.
One week ago, Sok Orn fell while working on the rubber farm and injured her left leg. The fall caused a closed, displaced fracture of the head of her left fibula near the knee. Since the injury, she has had pain and swelling around her left knee, as well as mild swelling and bruising in her lower leg. The discomfort has made it difficult for her to walk comfortably and continue her usual work on the farm.
Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, can help. On October 1st, Sok Orn will undergo a fracture repair procedure, which will stabilize the fracture and support healing, with the hope of helping her regain comfortable movement and gradually return to her daily activities and work. She can contribute $25, but needs help raising $575 more to fund her procedure and care.
Sok Orn said, “I hope the surgery will help my knee heal and ease the pain and swelling in my leg. I want to be able to walk comfortably again and return to my work so I can continue with my normal life.”
