Phally is a 67-year-old mother of nine from Cambodia. She is from Preah Sihanouk province and lives with her 72-year-old husband. Their children, all of whom are married, help support them since they are elderly and unable to work. At home, she spends most of her time caring for the household.
Phally has a black mass on the right side of her nose that has been present for four years. It has been diagnosed as a basal cell carcinoma (BCC), a type of skin cancer commonly found in areas that are frequently exposed to sunlight. The mass has grown larger over time, and Phally is concerned about it continuing to increase in size and affecting her ability to breathe through her nose. It is also painful, and she would like to have the mass removed to alleviate her discomfort. She needs the cancerous mass removal from her nose and a nasolabial flap to remove the cancerous tissue and repair the area, ensuring both function and appearance are restored.
Phally traveled to our medical partner’s care center to receive treatment. On May 8th, surgeons at the Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC) will remove the mass. Phally can contribute $100 to her care, but needs help to raise $173 to fund this procedure.
Phally shared, “I am worried and hope I will no longer be in pain and that the mass will not come back.”
