Chantha is a 43-year-old former construction worker from Cambodia. He is married and lives in Kampong Chhnang Province with his wife, who works in a garment factory. They have three children: the eldest works as a car repairer, the second is a construction worker, and the youngest is in Grade 6. He is currently unemployed and spends his time raising chickens and growing vegetables at home. In May 2022, Chantha sustained a fracture on his right thighbone when he was trapped under a collapsed house. He initially underwent fracture repair surgery with plate and screws, followed by antegrade intramedullary nailing due to persistent symptoms. Presently, he experiences ongoing discomfort related to the surgical hardware. The condition causes persistent pain and discomfort, especially when walking or standing. He currently uses crutches for mobility, and has difficulty performing normal daily activities. Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, can help. On May 19th, Chantha will undergo a fracture repair procedure (hardware removal with K-nail and bone grafting) which is expected to reduce his pain, improve mobility, and help him walk more comfortably without metal-related discomfort. Chantha is able to contribute towards the cost of his treatment, but needs help raising $550 more to fund the procedure. He says, “I hope this surgery will relieve my pain, allow me to walk normally again, and help me live without discomfort from the metal in my leg.”

Balakissa is a 31-year-old mother of five, from Mali. She helps her mother-in-law in her secondhand clothing business. Balakissa is currently expecting her sixth child. Her doctors recommend a cesarean section due to a high-risk pregnancy. This way, doctors can ensure the safety of both mother and child. Our medical partner, Muso, is helping Balakissa undergo a C-section on July 7th. This procedure will cost $259, and Balakissa needs your support. She says: "I hope everything goes well for me and my baby."

Bekam is an active and curious seven-year-old boy from Ethiopia. He loves playing football and riding his bicycle. Bekam is a Grade 2 student and lives with his mother in a rented house. His mother is a kindergarten teacher and a single parent. When Bekam was seven days old, his mother had taken him to clinic when a doctor diagnosed him with cryptorchidism, a condition in which one or both of the testicles remains undescended. Bekam and his mother were referred to a higher-level hospital for further evaluation and treatment. At the hospital, Bekam was examined and underwent an ultrasound scan. He was then placed on a waiting list for surgery. After about a month, Bekam’s mother was referred to our medical partner's care center, BethanyKids Myungsung Christian Medical Centre (BKMCM). Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is helping Bekam receive treatment. He is scheduled to undergo corrective surgery on September 7th, and needs $754 to cover the total cost of his procedure and care.
