Mary is a 27-year-old farmer living in Kenya with her husband and children. She works as a small-scale farmer, growing and selling maize and beans. Mary and her husband make caring for their children a top priority. Her husband says, “I love my children very much and I wish to see them grow healthy like other children.”
Mary is now expecting her sixth child! Abdominal pain caused by her pregnancy occasionally keeps her from work and daily activities, but she does her best to remain a dedicated farmer, wife, and mother. Mary came to our partner hospital hoping for a safe delivery for her and her baby-to-be.
For $215 we can make sure Mary and her baby receive excellent maternal care. Prenatal care, a delivery with the help of skilled attendants, and post-birth care for mother and baby will be provided. Let’s make sure Mary and her new baby have the best start possible!

Mary survived the delivery. But sadly, despite the best efforts of her doctors, her child passed away due to deficient red blood cell production in her body.
“I know for sure that God never gave us a good life or a bad life. What I am certain of is that, we are given a life and therefore, it is up to us to make it good or bad,” Mary says.
We are heartbroken to share this news, but we are committed to transparently reporting all outcomes to you - even the ones we wish were different. Thank you for making it possible for Mary to access care.
