Marta recently received her first pap smear during one of our medical partner’s cervical cancer screenings. Unfortunately, she has a precancerous cervical lesion. The lesion must be removed to prevent progression to cervical cancer, but the $220 treatment is outside of Marta’s financial means.
Marta is very nervous, mostly because she cannot afford to have the lesion removed. According to Marta’s doctors, this treatment will very likely be curative because her cancer was detected so early.

Marta received surgery to remove a precancerous lesion.
This was a great success! Marta had her colposcopy, and the cancerous spot was completely removed. She no longer at risk of developing cancer. Thanks to your support, Marta can lead a productive, worry-free life.
Our medical partner in Guatemala, Wuqu’ Kawoq, always describes cervical cancer cases as very emotionally charged due to the high-fatality rate. They reported that Marta was worried sick, but is now very relieved and grateful to donors.
