Meet Hiudal, a 37-year-old married man from Nepal. “Hiudal works at a hotel to keep his family going,” shares our medical partner, Possible. “He has four children who all go to school.”
Six months ago, Hiudal slipped in the bathroom and fractured his left arm. He had surgery to have a metal plate inserted so that the bone would heal properly and allow him to regain full use of his arm. Unfortunately, an infection developed in the area of the surgery. Due to the infection, the bone did not completely heal. Hiudal has been working despite the injury and complications, but requires further treatment that he cannot afford.
For $579, Hiudal will have surgery to remove the metal plate as well as the infected tissue from his arm. Once it is determined that the area is free of infection and not at risk for recurrence, Hiudal will require another surgery to insert a second plate or have an external fixation device fitted.
“I’ve already undergone surgery and now because of the infection I need to get a couple more surgeries. It’s very difficult for me to continue working in this condition,” said Hiudal.
Let’s help Hiudal take the next step toward overcoming his injury so he can continue to support his family.
