Nathan is a two-year-old boy from Kenya. He is the third-born out of four children. His mother is a housewife, while his father is a small-scale farmer who works hard to provide for the family’s basic needs.
Nathan was born with bilateral clubfoot, a condition in which both feet are twisted out of shape. This condition has made it difficult for him to achieve normal developmental milestones such as standing and walking. He is unable to move around independently, which deeply concerns his parents as they watch other children his age play and walk freely.
In addition to clubfoot, Nathan was born with another birth condition, which took priority for treatment. Navigating multiple diagnoses has been financially challenging for the family, and Nathan’s mother made the important decision to bring Nathan to our partner’s medical care center, AIC Cure International Hospital. There, doctors determined that Nathan would need serial casting, followed by clubfoot repair surgery.
Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $1,286 to fund Nathan’s clubfoot treatment. The surgery is scheduled to occur on June 9th. His family is immensely grateful that this treatment will give Nathan the opportunity to stand, walk, and enjoy childhood activities like other children his age.
Nathan’s mother shared, “I am looking forward to the day my son will walk like other children, play freely, and finally be able to join school.”
