Meet 15-year-old Kyaw Naing! He lives in Burma with his parents and five younger siblings. Kyaw Naing enjoys going to school and is very skilled at fixing watches. He happily repairs watches for his fellow villagers, and hopes to open a shop one day.
He first developed symptoms of cardiac disease at age 11. Until recently he attended school but his symptoms have become so severe that he had to drop out. Kyaw Naing experiences difficulty breathing, palpitations, and an enlarged chest. He is unable to walk for longer than a few minutes at a time. His low blood oxygen levels have caused cyanosis, or bluing of the skin, and clubbed fingers. Kyaw Naing needs surgery to repair his heart.
Kyaw Naing says that while he feels upset about his condition, he is very happy there are people interested in helping him out. After treatment Kyaw Naing hopes to return to school and eventually start his own watch repair business. Let’s help Kyaw Naing realize his dreams!
