Princess is a five-year-old girl from Uganda, the youngest of three children in her family. Her father is a small scale farmer, while her mother traveled abroad to work as a housemaid.
For the past year, Princess has had an umbilical hernia, a bulge near the belly button caused by abdominal tissue pushing through a weak spot in the abdominal wall. Her father initially sought treatment from several clinics, where Princess was repeatedly prescribed medication for ulcers. Despite this, her pain continued to worsen. She has lost her appetite, significantly lost weight, and even stopped attending school.
In an attempt to help her, her father tried local herbal treatments, but these did not improve her condition, leaving him deeply worried. He learned about the Watsi support program through a friend whose wife had previously undergone an emergency cesarean section. He brought Princess to our medical partner’s care center, Rwibaale Hospital for a review and once diagnosed, the doctor recommended surgery to relieve her pain and prevent further complications.
Fortunately, on January 6th, Princess will undergo hernia repair surgery at our medical partner’s care center. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $234 to fund Princess’s surgery. Once completed, this procedure will hopefully allow her to live more comfortably and confidently.
Princess’s father says, “I hope my daughter will be well soon, go back to school, and interact with her friends. Thank you, donors, God protect you all.”
