Frantz is a 12-year-old boy from Haiti. He lives with his mother, younger brother, and grandparents.
Frantz was born with a cardiac condition called ventricular septal defect, where a hole exists between the two lower chambers of his heart. Blood leaks through this hole without first passing through the lungs to obtain oxygen, leaving him sick and out of breath.
Frantz is scheduled to undergo heart surgery to correct his condition on May 12, but cannot afford the transportation to and from the hospital. Our medical partner, Haiti Cardiac Alliance, is requesting $1,343 to fund Frantz’s travel to the Cayman Islands for his cardiac repair surgery.
Frantz is excited for his surgery. He says “I want to do anything I want without getting tired and having to sit down.”
