Jackson is a five-year-old boy from Tanzania. His father is a farmer, providing for the family through seasonal agricultural work.
Jackson was diagnosed with bilateral genu varus, making it difficult for him to walk, run, and play. Four years ago, both legs started to bow at the knees, and gradually worsened. Several factors could cause this condition, such as growth disorders, vitamin deficiencies, or excessive fluoride found in contaminated drinking water. Jackson is unable to participate fully in play and daily activities with other children, and his parents worry that without treatment, he may face long-term mobility challenges.
Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $810 to fund treatment for Jackson. The procedure is scheduled to take place on March 3rd at our medical partner’s care center, Kafika House. Treatment will hopefully restore Jackson’s mobility, allow him to participate in a variety of activities, and greatly decrease his risk of future complications.
Jackson says, “I want to run and play football with my friends without my legs hurting.”
