Bre is a 32-year-old husband and father who makes his living as a motorcycle taxi driver. He enjoys watching boxing and other sports on TV and staying active by working out.
Unfortunately, Bre developed a pterygium in each eye about ten years ago. Also known as surfer’s eye, a pterygium is a growth on the eye that commonly affects people who spend a lot of their time outdoors. These growths cause tearing, irritation, and pain for Bre, making it difficult for him to see clearly, work, or go outside.
Bre and his wife traveled three hours to reach our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre. He will undergo a pterygium removal surgery on January 5. The surgery will cost $148.
Bre is hopeful this surgery will restore his freedom, saying, “I hope to look good and feel better…so that I can continue my work and go anywhere by myself.”
