Leam lives with his wife and two of their children. His wife is a housewife, and their two sons, aged 19 and 21, care for buffalos in the village. At home, Leam enjoys listening to the radio and chatting with his neighbors. Three years ago, Leam stepped on an anchor while fishing, resulting in a chronic wound on his right foot that has not been treated properly. The wound is severely infected and has developed a fungating mass with infections. Leam used to work various farming and handyman jobs to support his family, but since the accident, he has been unable to work. Additionally, Leam underwent a below-knee amputation of his left leg about 20 years ago following an accident, which has left him unable to walk or stand without crutches. Leam and his wife were referred by a neighbor to our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC), for consultation and treatment. Due to the chronic ulcer on his right foot, doctors have determined that Leam needs an amputation below the knee to prevent further infection. The surgery is scheduled for July 25th and Leam needs $479 to cover the cost of surgery, medications, hospitalization, and post-operative physical therapy. Leam says, "I hope that after the surgery, the wound will no longer be infected, so that I will not have to worry in the future and can move forward with my life."

Sai Khan is a six-year-old boy who lives with his parents and his cousin in Karen State, Burma. Sai Khan's father is a soldier and his mother is a home-maker. His cousin is a day laborer. Their income often falls short of meeting their needs, so they rely on the local clinic at the internally displaced persons camp for free basic health care. Two years ago, Sai Khan started experiencing throat pain accompanied by occasional fever. Currently, his tonsils are swollen and red, causing him pain and discomfort when swallowing food. The swelling increases when he has a fever. Additionally, he struggles to open his mouth wide enough to speak without experiencing pain. Recently, Sai Khan was diagnosed with enlarged tonsils, which, if left untreated, could lead to persistent and potentially worsening symptoms. Due to his condition, he has temporarily stopped attending school. Our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund, is requesting $1,500 to fund a tonsillectomy for Sai Khan, which is scheduled to take place on September 3rd. Surgeons will remove his tonsils, relieving Sai Khan of his symptoms and helping him get back to good health. Sai Kham's mother says, "I sent my son to school to study, but he struggles to read because he often complains of throat pain. Whenever he tries to open his mouth to speak or read, he says it causes even more pain. Once he finishes his treatment, I will support him in returning to school. My dream is for him to be an educated person."

Min lives with his family in Tak Province, Thailand. His father is a construction day laborer and his mother is a homemaker. In his free time, Min likes to play with his siblings, read stories, and watch movies on his phone. In the middle of 2022, Min fractured his right leg when a car hit the electric bicycle he and his friend were riding. After his family borrowed money, he had a steel rod inserted into his fractured bone during surgery at Mae Sot Hospital. During his last follow-up appointment in October 2023, the doctor said Min would need to have the rod removed. Unable to pay for it, Min's parents did not bring Min back to the hospital. In May 2024, Min started to experience pain in his right leg when he walked. His mother brought him back to the hospital, where the doctor said Min would need to have the rod removed. Fortunately, our medical partner, Burma Children's Medical Fund, can help. On June 14th, Min will undergo hardware removal surgery that will relieve him of discomfort and pain. Now, Min needs $1,500 to fund this procedure. Min's mother said, "I feel very sad when my son is in pain and I really want him to have surgery to remove the rod but I can't help him. Now that I know there will be an organization and donors who will help pay for my son's treatment, I am very happy."
