Florence is a 53-year-old farmer from Malawi. She is married and a mother of four.
In early August, Florence was diagnosed with a periumbilical hernia after enduring five years of pain from a swelling near her belly button. She first noticed the swelling in 2020 but assumed it would go away on its own. Despite frequent visits to the hospital for other reasons, she chose to remain silent about her condition. Over the years, the problem worsened, leaving her with severe discomfort, reduced appetite, abdominal pains, and difficulty working on her farm. This, in turn, has significantly affected her income and her ability to provide for her family.
Fortunately, on September 4th, Florence will undergo hernia repair surgery at our medical partner’s care center, Partners in Hope Medical Center. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $575 to fund Florence’s surgery. Once completed, this procedure will hopefully allow her to live more comfortably and confidently.
Florence shared, “The swelling is now too much. Kindly assist me to get better.”
