Yuth is a 59-year-old rice farmer from Cambodia. He has one son, two daughters, and eight grandchildren. He lives together with his whole family, and they all farm together. He enjoys going on walks, taking care of his grandchildren and listening to prayers on the radio.
Three years ago, Yuth developed a cataract in his left eye, causing him blurry vision and photophobia. He has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside.
When Yuth learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, he traveled for four hours seeking treatment. On October 5th, doctors will perform a phacoemulsification cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in his left eye. After recovery, he will be able to see clearly. Now, he needs help to fund this $229 procedure.
Yuth said, “My family has worried about me a lot ever since my vision went bad, so I hope that after this surgery I can do everything myself and they won’t worry so much.”
