Irene is a young woman from Uganda. She lost her mother at a young age and grew up with her stepmother. Irene married and works as a small-scale farmer. Her husband is also a farmer, and they both contribute to the development of their family. They own a two-room mud house for shelter.
For a year, Irene has had an umbilical hernia. She first developed a painless swelling around her umbilicus, which later became painful. Currently, she is unable to work due to the pain, so she visited our medical partner’s hospital for medical advice. Her doctors recommended surgery and scheduled her for a hernia repair procedure on November 29th.
Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare (AMH), is requesting $170 to fund Irene’s surgery. Once completed, this procedure will allow her to live more comfortably and confidently.
Irene says, “I pray for a successful surgery with a positive outcome. After recovery, I will thank God and I will continue with farming to support my husband.”
