Afifi is a 25-year-old electrician. He lives at home with his parents and is the oldest child in his family. He has one younger brother, and two younger sisters. His parents work as rice farmers. In his spare time, he likes to play football and listen to popular songs on his phone.
Three weeks ago, Afifi had a traumatic eye injury at work when a piece of metal flew into his eye. The retina of Afifi’s left eye detached, causing him pain, and blurry vision. Surgeons suspect a globe tumor and/or a retinal detachment.
When Afifi learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, he traveled for two hours seeking treatment. On December 13th, eye surgeons will perform a retinal detachment repair procedure in his left eye. After recovery, he will be able to see clearly. Now, he needs help to fund this $648 procedure.
Afifi shared, “I am worried I will lose my eye, and won’t be able to work. I hope that I will be able to see again, and no longer have pain.”
