Contirida is a 26-year-old farmer from Uganda who lives with her husband and three children in a small village. Contirida and her husband grow crops for their own consumption. They also have some coffee plants, whose beans they sell for a small income. In her spare time, Contirida enjoys listening to the radio while she is weaving mats or baskets.
Contirida is currently expecting her fourth child. Because her three other children were delivered by C-section, her doctors consider her pregnancy to be high-risk. They recommend that she receive medical attention before, during, and after labor to ensure a safe delivery. On March 10, she will begin to receive supplements and attend antenatal checkups and health education classes. She will deliver her baby in the hospital, where she will undergo a C-section. After birth, Contirida and her baby will be monitored by the hospital staff.
Contirida and her husband need help to pay for this $258 procedure. She says, “Thank you for the help with my safe delivery. I will pray that you will be able to keep helping others in need.”
