Sambath is a 27-year-old farmer who is married with two sons. He likes to watch TV, listen to music, and relax at home in his free time.
In December of 2016, Sambath was in a motor vehicle accident that caused a broken jaw, malocclusion (misalignment of the teeth when the jaws close), and a hematoma (abnormal collection of blood outside of a blood vessel) in his right eye. It is difficult for Sambath to eat, and he is in pain.
Sambath knew about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC), because his relative had surgery there before. He traveled for four hours with his sister to reach CSC for treatment.
Sambath is scheduled to undergo surgery to realign and fix the bones in his face on January 23. The procedure costs $411.
With our help, Sambath will be relieved of pain and able to eat normally once again.

Sambath underwent successful surgery.
Surgeons at CSC used small wire to align his teeth and fixated hardware to the fracture site in his jaw. Following the procedure, he was given pain medication and mouth washing care. He was instructed to only drink fluids and eat soft foods.
When Sambath returned to CSC, doctors found good contact between his upper and lower teeth, and the small wires were removed. Sambath is now able to eat more easily than before.
Sambath’s sister says, “I’m so happy to see my brother look better. Thanks to all of the surgeons and the donors for the help.”
