Mohammed is a playful and intelligent seven-year-old boy from Ethiopia. He loves playing football, running, and spending time with his friends. He is a first-grade student and the second child in his family. Mohammed has one older brother and two younger sisters. His father works as a daily laborer, while his mother is a housewife. The family lives in a rented house and faces financial challenges. Mohammed was born with hypospadias, a condition that causes urinary dysfunction. Without treatment, he will continue to experience uncomfortable symptoms and will be at risk of future complications. When Mohammed was about one year old, they took him to a nearby health center. After examining him, the doctor advised the family to return when he was older, explaining that surgery could be performed at a later age. The family returned home, but as Mohammed grew older, they became increasingly concerned that the condition could affect his future. Fortunately, Mohammed is scheduled to undergo corrective surgery on August 17th. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $1,293 to cover the cost of his procedure and care. After surgery, he should be able to live more comfortably. Mohammed's father shared, "Thank you so much to everyone for listening to our concerns and responding to our needs. Siv Hak is a 19-year-old man from Cambodia who lives with his parents and two siblings in Kampot Province. His parents and older brother work in a garment factory, while his younger sister is in Grade 7. Siv Hak is not currently working, and enjoys listening to music and playing games in his free time. Siv Hak has had back and hip problems since 2018 that gradually worsened over time. Investigations later found osteomyelitis and discitis with spinal narrowing. After undergoing spinal fusion surgery in August 2026, the surgical wound on his back broke down and developed an infection. The wound breakdown and infection require further treatment. He currently has no sensation in both legs, which affects his mobility and ability to manage his daily activities independently. When Siv Hak learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, he traveled for two hours seeking treatment. On September 11th, surgeons at CSC will perform a debridement procedure to remove damaged and infected tissue from his back wound and help create a cleaner environment for healing. It is an important step in treating the wound infection and supporting his ongoing recovery. Now, Siv Hak's family needs help to fund this $417 procedure. He said, “I hope today’s surgery will clean the wound on my back and help it heal properly. I am looking forward to recovering from this infection and becoming more comfortable and independent in my daily life.”

Neary is a resilient widow and devoted mother of two from Cambodia. She is a 52-year-old grocery seller from Pursat Province who lives with her daughter. Her husband passed away six years ago due to an illness. She has two children—her son is a police officer, and her daughter is a teacher. In her free time, she enjoys listening to music and planting vegetables around her home. In 2022, Neary was involved in a motorcycle accident that caused a fracture of her left femur. After the accident, she received treatment at a clinic in Pursat Province, where doctors performed internal fixation surgery and implanted hardware to stabilize the fracture. In 2023, after a proximal screw broke, she underwent another procedure to remove the broken screw and replace it with a new one. She is now experiencing lower back pain, pain in her left leg, difficulty walking, and occasional stiffness. The non-union of her left femur has affected her mobility and causes discomfort that makes daily activities and running her grocery-selling work difficult. Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, can help. On May 26th, Neary will undergo a hardware removal procedure, which will remove the problematic top screw and use bone grafting to promote proper healing of the fracture. It will help reduce pain, improve stability, and allow her to walk more comfortably and independently again. Neary can contribute $100, but needs help raising $278 more to fund her procedure and care. Neary said, “After the surgery, I hope that my pain will be relieved and that I will be able to walk comfortably again. I hope to recover well and return to my normal daily activities without difficulty. I am very thankful to the doctors and everyone who is helping make my treatment possible.”
