Octavia is a 65-year-old man from Uganda, and a father of ten children. He earns a living through small-scale farming, to provide for his large family.
For the past three years, Octavia has had an inguinal hernia, a condition that occurs when abdominal tissue protrudes through a weak spot in the lower abdominal muscles, causing a bulge in the groin area. The condition has been causing him pain and swelling in his inguinal region, and this has impacted his work performance. Before going to Ibanda Hospital, Octavia had previously sought treatment at another health facility, but his condition remained unresolved due to lack of financial resources needed for treatment.
Fortunately, our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is helping Octavia receive treatment. On September 10th, he will undergo repair surgery, which once completed, will hopefully allow him to live a healthier life, free from his symptoms.
Octavia says, “I thank God for His protection and guidance up to this day. I hope to get assistance from the donor program, and after recovery, I will keep practicing farming and take care of my family.’’
