Burasidia is a 66-year-old woman from Uganda. She is a small-scale farmer and weaver, who never had the opportunity to attend school. She lost her husband 37 years ago and has since raised her family on her own. She is the mother of eight children, although two have passed away. Her children provide her support whenever possible, but they have no formal employment, and face financial challenges of their own.
For the past year, Burasidia has been experiencing uncomfortable gynecological symptoms which have worsened over time. An ultrasound revealed that she has uterine fibroids. She needs to undergo a hysterectomy, a procedure in which surgeons will remove her uterus.
Fortunately, our medical partner African Mission Healthcare (AMH) can help. She is scheduled to undergo a total abdominal hysterectomy on September 2nd. Burasidia needs your help in raising $319 to fund the surgery. Once recovered, she will be able to resume her daily activities free of pain.
Burasidia said, “I am deeply grateful to the medical team at Rushoroza Hospital for welcoming me, examining me, and helping me understand the condition that has caused me pain for the past year. When I was told that I needed surgery and learned about the cost, I became very worried and discouraged. The little I have is already needed to support my grandchildren and keep them in school. I humbly appeal to the donors to come to my support and help me receive the surgery I need. Your assistance would relieve me from the pain I have endured for the past year, and give me hope of returning home to my grandchildren in better health.”
