Evelyn is a 10-year-old smart and friendly young girl who lives in Quibdó, Colombia with her family. Her joy and curiosity shine through every day at school, where she interacts with her classmates with enthusiasm and warmth. When she grows up, Evelyn wishes to become a great veterinarian. Since birth, Evelyn has had an umbilical hernia, a condition in which a small portion of abdominal tissue protrudes through the navel. The condition has been causing her discomfort and tenderness in the navel area, especially when performing activities like jumping, playing and enjoying her childhood. Surgery has been recommended to correct the hernia, and prevent possible future complications. Fortunately, Evelyn is scheduled for repair surgery on August 20th. Our medical partner, Clínica Noel, is requesting $1,005 to fund Evelyn's surgery. Once completed, this procedure will hopefully allow her to live a healthier life. George is a 10-year-old boy from Kenya who enjoys playing and learning new things. His mother is a casual worker who earns a small and irregular income from activities such as selling fruits. Her income is often barely enough to meet the family’s basic needs. George was born unable to perceive sound, which has made it difficult for him to make friends and participate in school. He has learned to lip read to communicate, but the limitations have left him feeling isolated in the classroom when the teacher addresses him but he cannot understand what is being asked of him. Doctors have recommended that George be fitted with hearing aids. They would give him an opportunity to improve his ability to access sound and communication, participate more meaningfully in school, interact with his peers, and communicate more easily with his mother and those around him. Fortunately, our medical partner African Mission Healthcare (AMH) can help. George is scheduled to be fitted with hearing aids on October 2nd, and he and his family need your help raising $1,171 in order to fund the devices. Hearing aids could help restore George's confidence and give him renewed hope for his education and future. "The hope of one day hearing my son call me ‘Mom’ has been restored,” George’s mother shared.

Kebede is a 70-year-old security guard from Ethiopia. He is a widower and a father of five. After his wife passed away, he continued working exhausting 24-hour shifts to support his family. Recently, however, his condition has made it increasingly difficult to carry out his work and daily responsibilities. For the past two years, Kebede has been living with Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH), an enlargement of the prostate gland. The condition has been causing him significant discomfort and making it increasingly difficult to carry out his work and daily responsibilities. Physicians at Saglan Wajee General Hospital determined that Kebede should undergo surgery treatment. Fortunately, on June 17th, our medical partner, Saglan Wajee General Hospital, will help Kebede undergo a prostatectomy. This procedure will cost $900, and Kebede needs your support to fund the surgery. "I hope to get better, so I can have the physical strength and concentration needed to keep doing my job as a security guard," said Kebede.
