Ni is an eight-year-old second grade student from the Thailand. Ni lives with his parents and uncle. His father is a day labourer, and his mother and uncle are factory workers. In his free time, Ni likes to draw, especially big houses. He also likes to listen to storytelling and watch dances.
Since May 2023, Ni has been experiencing pain in his throat and his tonsils are enlarged and swollen. It is painful for him to swallow food. He has difficulty breathing and this gets worse if he is not aware of his position while sleeping. Ni was recently diagnosed with enlarged tonsils, which, if not treated, will cause his symptoms to persist and possibly intensify over time.
Our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund, is requesting $1,500 to fund a tonsillectomy for Ni, which is scheduled to take place on January 2nd. Surgeons will remove his tonsils, hopefully relieving Ni of his symptoms and helping him live more comfortably.
Ni’s mother said, “I feel so happy that my son will have a chance to see the specialist and hopefully, get surgery and recover very soon. I worry the enlarged tonsils will increase in size and block his airway. Every time he sleeps, I worry about his sleeping position. I want to say thank you donors and to BCMF for helping pay for my son’s surgery.”
