Srey is a 56-year-old construction worker from Cambodia. She is married and lives in Kampot Province with her husband, who also works as a construction worker. They have four children, three of whom are already married. In her free time, she enjoys growing vegetables around her home. On May 29, 2026, Srey was involved in a motor vehicle accident that caused a fracture of her right ankle. She initially received traditional Khmer medicine for approximately three months. However, her condition did not improve, and follow-up X-rays at a private clinic confirmed that the fracture had not healed properly. Her right ankle is deformed and painful, and she experiences numbness over the top of her foot. She currently relies on a walking frame to move around, making it difficult for her to walk normally, perform daily activities, and continue working as a construction worker. Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, can help. On August 10th, Srey will undergo a fracture repair procedure, which will help improve the alignment and stability of her right ankle. Hopefully, it will reduce her pain and numbness, improve her ability to walk, and allow her to return to her daily activities and work more comfortably. She can contribute $50, but needs help raising $550 more for her procedure and care. Srey said, “I hope the treatment will help my ankle heal properly, reduce my pain, and allow me to walk more comfortably again. I want to return to my work and daily activities so I can continue supporting my family.”

She lives alone, but her daughter, who works as a factory laborer, lives nearby. Srey's favorite hobby is listening to the radio, especially programs about Buddhist teachings and spiritual education. Five years ago, Srey developed a cataract in her right eye, causing her itchiness, tearing, and blurry vision. A cataract is a clouding of the lens of the eye, so it is like looking through a frosty or fogged-up window. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, including colors and faces, and is worried about falling when walking, so she is not able to go places on her own. When Srey learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, she traveled for three hours seeking treatment. On June 3rd, doctors will perform a phacoemulsification cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in her right eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Srey can contribute $35, but needs help raising an additional $228 to fund her procedure and care. Srey said, "As I am getting older, I have developed cataracts, which have affected my vision. I hope that after cataract surgery, my eyesight will improve so that I can go out more easily, recognize my relatives clearly, and travel to distant places to attend ceremonies and social events without difficulty."

His daughter is a garment worker and his son is a construction worker. He likes to listen to the news and the monks praying on the radio. About two years ago, Pon developed a cataract in his right eye, causing him itchiness, tearing, and blurry vision. A cataract is a clouding of the lens of the eye, so it is like looking through a frosty or fogged-up window. He has difficulty seeing things clearly, including colors and faces, and is worried about falling when walking, so is not able to go places on his own. When Pon learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, he traveled for three hours seeking treatment. On May 18th, doctors will perform a phacoemulsification cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in his right eye. After recovery, he will be able to see clearly. Now, he needs help to fund this $263 procedure. Pon said: "I hope that after surgery my eye can see better, so I can easily go back to growing rice, and venture outside well."
