Maxensia is a 30-year-old mother of two young children from Uganda. She is a hardworking small-scale farmer who lives with her husband and children. Her husband works as a boda-boda rider, and together they work tirelessly to provide for their family.
Maxensia’s family relies greatly on her contribution through farming and household responsibilities. Even while living with a painful condition, financial hardship has made it difficult for her to access specialized medical care, despite repeatedly seeking help from nearby health facilities.
Approximately two years ago, Maxensia developed three masses in a sensitive area. Initially, she believed the swelling was a minor problem that would eventually disappear. However, the masses continued to grow over time, causing persistent pain and discomfort that gradually affected many aspects of her daily life. Activities that were once routine, including walking long distances, working in the garden, sitting comfortably, and carrying out household responsibilities, became increasingly difficult and painful.
Maxensia heard about our medical partner’s care center, Rushoroza Hospital, through a radio announcement, and decided to travel to the hospital for assessment. She has been diagnosed with cystic masses, and an excision surgery has been recommended.
What Maxensia desires most is the opportunity to regain her health, continue providing for her family, and watch her children grow. Fortunately, our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, can help. On September 1st, Maxensia will undergo mass excision surgery to treat her condition. Now, Maxensia needs help to raise $261 to fund this procedure.
She says, “For more than two years, I have lived with this pain, hoping that one day I would find help. Every day is a struggle, but I keep going because my children need me. I wish to be healthy again so that I can work on my farm, care for my family, and watch my children grow. My husband and I have done everything we can, but we cannot afford the surgery I need. I humbly ask for assistance to get this surgery. Your kindness will give me a second chance at life and restore the hope I have almost lost.”
