Paw is a 42-year-old woman from Burma. She lives with her husband and four children in a refugee camp in Tak Province, Thailand. Her husband is an agricultural day laborer, and all her children go to school in the camp. She is a homemaker. During her free time, she enjoys spending time with her children and helping them with their homework.
Paw is pregnant, and doctors recommend that she deliver via a caesarean section due to a high-risk pregnancy. This way, doctors can ensure the safety of both mother and child.
Our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund, is helping Paw undergo a C-Section on January 16th at our medical partner’s care center, Tha Song Yang Hospital. This procedure will cost $1500, and Paw needs your support.
Paw said, “I do not have money for my surgery. If you can help me with the surgery cost, thank you very much for that. I will also look for a job as a day laborer when my baby grows up in the future.”

Our medical partner shared an update that Paw is healing well, but sadly, she lost her baby before birth. Paw shared that before her admission to the hospital, she noticed that her baby had not moved in a while and felt like something was wrong. She visited the camp hospital, where the medic performed an ultrasound and told her that, unfortunately, her baby had passed. She was sent directly to Tha Song Yang Hospital, where she was admitted and underwent the care she needed to heal. Paw remains strong and focused on providing for her family as she processes the loss.
In the future, Paw plans to sell vegetables to support her family. Her husband will move back into the camp to look after her and her help her take care of their children. Their children are students, and Paw hopes to save enough money to allow all of her children to finish school. Ultimately, she wants them to grow up and find a profession that improves their community, such as teaching or nursing.
Paw said, “I have to be optimistic. I have many other children and cannot remain upset; I still have children that I need to look after.” She expressed her gratitude to donors, saying, “I would have many problems without the support of the organization. Especially money problems. Thank you.”
