Saidimo is a charming, soft spoken eight-year-old boy who lives with his family in northern Kenya. Saidimo was born with a deformed hip and was recently diagnosed with osteomyelitis, a bone infection that makes it extremely painful for him to walk.
Saidimo and his cousin Jonah, another patient featured on Watsi, were brought to the hospital by generous community members. Although Saidimo received a diagnosis at the hospital, his family cannot afford the surgery he needs.
For $1500, Saidimo will receive hip surgery to remove the infected bone tissue and rejoin his hip. This operation will prevent Saidimo’s condition from worsening, will eliminate his severe pain, and will allow him to walk correctly.
