14-year-old Jeng lives in Shan State, Burma, with his grandmother, parents, two uncles, and five siblings. His grandmother is retired, while his parents work on a banana farm. One of his uncles is a subsistence farmer who grows rice, while Jeng, his other uncle and his siblings - except the youngest one who is too young to enroll - are students. His parents' income is just enough for their daily expenses. In June 2025, Jeng began experiencing frequent nosebleeds from his right nostril. At first, his father would use tissues to pack his nose and stop the bleeding, which resolved the issue temporarily. Later on, Jeng's symptoms worsened; the nosebleeds became recurrent, and could no longer be stopped by packing the nose with tissue. Jeng also felt as though something was blocking his nostril. He visited a local clinic, where the doctor performed a basic physical examination, and recommended that he travel to a major city to seek medical attention. Since Jeng and his family can only speak a bit of Burmese, his father decided against bringing him to a hospital in a larger city in Burma. Instead, through their acquaintance, they went to a hospital in northern Thailand in November 2025. At the hospital, the doctor performed a physical examination, and ordered a Computed Tomography (CT) scan. Jeng was diagnosed with juvenile nasopharyngeal angiofibroma in the right nasal cavity. This is a rare, vascular tumor that is non-cancerous, but very aggressive. Recently, Jeng was brought by his father to our medical partner's care center in Chiang Mai, where the the doctor advised that he would need to undergo another CT scan before planning for surgery. A CT scan is a procedure in which X-ray images taken from several angles are combined to produce cross-sectional images of the body. This scan will hopefully help the doctors confirm Jeng's diagnosis, and formulate an appropriate treatment plan. Our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund, is requesting $469 to cover the cost of Jeng's CT scan, which is scheduled for August 3rd, at Maharaj Nakorn Chiang Mai Hospital. Jeng's father said, “I am exhausted from trying to find treatment for him. I have had to visit many hospitals for his care. I also feel stressed because I am in debt for his treatment, and I feel sad that there is no one to help me. I hope my son can undergo the surgery. I feel really thankful from the bottom of my heart that the donors are willing to help my son’s treatment. Thank you so much for accepting him and supporting his treatment. I hope he can go back to school after the surgery, and I will support whatever he wants to be in the future.”

Chanthy is a 35-year-old father and excavator driver from Cambodia. He is married and lives in Kampong Thom province with his wife and their three children. His eldest child is in Grade 7, his second child is in Grade 3, and their youngest is just one month old. His wife stays at home to manage the household and care for the children, but the family faces many challenges and struggles to make ends meet, especially with a newborn to look after. In his free time, he enjoys playing volleyball with friends in the village. Three days ago, Chanthy had an accident when an excavator rolled over his leg as he was helping his neighbor whose truck was stuck in the mud. He has a severe wound on his left lower leg, is experiencing intense pain, and is unable to walk, which makes it difficult for him to care for himself and support his family. When Chanthy learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC), he traveled for three hours seeking treatment. On March 17th, surgeons at CSC will perform a debridement procedure to to remove damaged and infected tissue from the wound, reduce pain, and restore his ability to walk and use his leg normally. Chanthy can contribute $50, but needs help raising $367 more to fund his procedure and care. Chanthy said, “The pain is so strong that I can’t walk, and it has been very hard for me and my family. I hope that with this treatment, my leg will heal so I can stand and take care of my children again.”

Samalani is a 40-year-old driver from Malawi. He is married with three children and works hard to provide for his family, although his health has recently hampered his efforts. In early 2024, Samalani was diagnosed with a right inguinal hernia, a condition that occurs when abdominal tissue protrudes through a weak spot in the lower abdominal muscles, causing a bulge in the groin area. Over time, the swelling has become more frequent and is now associated with pain around the affected area. With proper treatment, Samalani hopes to regain his productivity and continue fulfilling his role as a responsible father and provider for his family. Fortunately, on April 9th, he will undergo hernia repair surgery with the help of our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare. Samalani is able to contribute to his treatment, but needs $575 more to fund the procedure. He says, "Surgery will provide me the opportunity for a healthier life. Your support will help me to continue taking good care of my family."
