Meet Nasra! She is just under two-years-old, and lives in Tanzania with her father. She likes to play with Lego blocks and with other children.
Nasra was born with bilateral clubfoot, which means that her foot is twisted and her sole cannot be placed flat on the ground. She started getting treatment for this condition when she was only one week old, but serious family complications disrupted her treatment altogether.
Nasra’s father is raising her by himself. He lost his wife when Nasra was just a baby, and spent his life savings on his wife’s medical treatments.
He tells us: “My daughter is all I have now. I long to see her able to step on both of her feet properly without limping. I plan to take her to school in a few years to come, and having the ability to walk properly will help her not only walk faster but also keep up with other children.”
Nasra needs medical attention, or she runs the risk of developing osteoarthritis at a very young age. For $1160, our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, can treat Nasra’s clubfoot. After surgery, she is expected to walk normally and make a full recovery.
Let’s help make it happen!
