Kimseng, who is 66 years old, is a widowed, retired rice farmer. She has three children and six grandchildren, and lives with her youngest son, who helps to support her by working as a tuk tuk driver. Her other children work in nearby garment factories. While her children are working, Kimseng helps with caring for her grandchildren. Two years ago, Kimseng developed a cataract in her left eye, causing her blurry vision and watery eyes. Because of her impaired vision, she is reluctant to go out and do things on her own. When Kimseng learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, she traveled for three hours seeking treatment. On July 10th, doctors at Kien Khleang National Rehabilitation Centre will perform small incision cataract surgery, and implant an intraocular lens in her left eye. After she has recovered, Kimseng will be able to see clearly again and do more with her family. Now, she needs your help to fund this $253 procedure. Kimseng shared: "I hope after surgery I can do more to take care of the house and my grandchildren, and I won't be afraid to go places on my own."

Meet To, a 48-year-old monk. He has one son, two daughters, and six grandchildren. Currently, To lives in a pagoda in Takeo, just outside the capital city of Cambodia. He enjoys spending time with his family and studying Buddhism at the pagoda. To developed a cataract in his right eye about two years ago, which causes him itchiness, tearing, and blurry vision. In the last two months, the condition has become so severe that he cannot leave the pagoda by himself and can no longer read. He has difficulty seeing things clearly, including colors and faces, and is worried about falling when walking, so he cannot go places alone. When To learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC), he traveled for two hours seeking treatment. On June 15th, doctors will perform cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in his right eye. After recovery, he will be able to see clearly. CSC is requesting $253 to fund this procedure. To shared, "After surgery, I hope my vision will improve, and I will be able to read and join ceremonies at the pagoda."

Isaac is a 37-year-old husband and father to three young children ranging from 2-8 years old. He works as a laborer at a construction site in Nairobi. However, income is tight, as Issac's job has an inconsistent need for laborers and his wife is a stay-at-home mom. On the 13th of April, Isaac was involved in a bad car accident and rushed to our medical partner's care center Kijabe Hospital for emergency care. The car Isaac was in swayed off the road and hit a wall that caused a severe fracture in his right leg. The fracture has made it difficult for him to walk and causes him pain. Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare (AMH), can help. On April 14th, Isaac will undergo a fracture repair procedure, called an open reduction and internal fixation. This procedure will help him regain the ability to walk. AMH is requesting $1,500 to fund his medical procedure. Isaac says, “My family depends on me. I am scared of how to fend for them with this condition. I need the treatment since I cannot work with a broken leg."
