Tengeletu is a 53-year-old man from Malawi. He is married with four adult children and engages in subsistence farming together with his wife to support the family. To supplement their income, Tengeletu also works as a casual laborer, mainly by doing cleaning jobs. In May 2025, Tengeletu started experiencing a swelling in his inguinal region. He sought medical care, and was diagnosed with an inguinal hernia, a condition that occurs when abdominal tissue protrudes through a weak spot in the lower abdominal muscles, causing a bulge in the groin area. Since then, he has made multiple visits to the hospital in hope of undergoing surgical repair, but without success. During his most recent visit to the hospital in early March this year, he was referred to our medical partner's care center, Partners in Hope Medical Center, for further support. He is very hopeful that the surgical operation will restore his health, enabling him to resume his daily activities to earn a living and support his family. Fortunately, on April 9th, he will undergo hernia repair surgery with the help of our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare. Tengeletu is raising $575 to fund the procedure, which will allow him to live more comfortably and confidently. He says, "I am very worried about this condition, I am not ready to die. I hope you can provide treatment support for me too, just like others before me have benefitted."

Taung is a 64-year-old man from Burma. He lives with his daughter, son, and two grandsons. He is retired and helps with household chores to support his family. His daughter is divorced and raises chickens and pigs for their own consumption, selling the surplus to buy additional food and cover their basic needs. Each of his grandsons goes to middle school, while Taung's son has a mental illness and stays home. He also has another daughter who helps support him. His family has enough income for their basic needs and healthcare, but they have struggled to meet the financial obligations of Taung's needs. Currently, Taung is experiencing upper abdominal pain, and he feels discomfort when walking for long periods or sitting down. Eating to fill his stomach can also lead to discomfort, so he eats only in small quantities. After seeking medical help at our medical partner's care center, Mae Sot Hospital, the doctor has diagnosed Taung with a bile duct stone and has recommended surgery. Taung has been advised to undergo a cholecystectomy, the surgical removal of the gallbladder. If left untreated, Taung's symptoms will continue to worsen and put him at risk for further health complications in the future. Taung is scheduled to undergo his cholecystectomy on August 13th. Our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund, is requesting $1,500 to cover the total cost of his procedure and care. Taung said, "Due to my condition, I experience severe pain sometimes. I could not help much with household chores. When the pain is severe, I could not eat and could not sleep well. I want to recover, and then I would like to plant banana trees and other vegetables to sell and make income to support my family. Thank you to all the donors for helping me."

Sakhr is a newborn baby boy from Tanzania. He is the youngest among three children. His arrival has brought great joy to his parents, who are both small business owners. His father is especially happy to welcome his son and even wanted to give him his own father’s name in honor of his grandfather, creating a meaningful family connection from the very beginning. Sakhr was born with clubfoot on the right foot, a condition in which the foot is twisted out of shape. The tissues connecting the muscle to the bones are shorter than usual. Without treatment, clubfoot can make it difficult for a child to walk comfortably, maintain proper balance, and wear regular shoes as they grow. Starting treatment early provides an important opportunity to gradually correct the position of his foot and support healthy development. Fortunately, Sakhr's family traveled to visit our medical partner's care center, Kafika House. Surgeons will begin clubfoot treatment on August 14th. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $341 to fund Sakhr's clubfoot repair. After treatment and continued follow-up, Sakhr will have the opportunity to grow, walk, and play comfortably. Sakhr's mother says, "We are grateful that we found help so early. We hope this treatment will give our son the chance to walk normally and grow without limitations.”
