Christopher is a nine-year-old student from Uganda. He enjoys playing football and dreams of becoming a doctor. Christopher stays with his single mother, who engages in small-scale farming on their family’s small plot of land.
Christopher complained of umbilical pain, but his mother thought it would go away. However, the pain and discomfort worsened, affecting his ability to attend school. His mother took Christopher to our medical partner’s care center, Rushoroza Hospital, to see if they could offer any help. Christopher was diagnosed with a reducible umbilical hernia and recommended a herniorrhaphy surgery for him to recover. Without surgery, he would continue to suffer, and the condition could get worse. But Christopher’s mother cannot afford the surgery costs and hence requests financial help. With support, he can undergo the necessary surgery and return to school to achieve his dreams.
Fortunately, on November 6th, Christopher will undergo hernia repair surgery. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $170 to fund Christopher’s surgery. Once completed, this procedure will hopefully allow him to live more comfortably and confidently.
Christopher’s mother says, “I pray that my son may be helped and get the recommended surgery, as he has really faced a tough life. Besides, I am a single mother and have no stable income, and I cannot manage to pay for my son’s surgery and hence request help.”
