Ann is a 57-year-old woman from Kenya and a mother of five. Her husband abandoned the family, leaving her solely responsible for raising her children. Fortunately, she has supportive relatives who offered her shelter and employ her as a casual caregiver for their elderly parents.
About two years ago, Ann began experiencing frequent dizziness and noticed a growing swelling on her neck. She was diagnosed with a goiter — an enlargement of the thyroid gland. If left untreated, it may continue to grow and lead to serious complications, including difficulty breathing and swallowing.
Fortunately, on May 18th, Ann will undergo a thyroidectomy with the help of our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare. She is raising $633 to fund the surgery, which will allow her to live more comfortably and confidently.
“This problem has had a lot of effect on my life. I plead for help so that I can be treated and regain my live, and be there for my children,” said Ann.
