Meet Say, a 70-year-old rice farmer in Cambodia. Say has one son and five grandchildren. Our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC), tells us, Say “is deeply religious and her favorite hobbies are going to the pagoda to listen to monk prayers and give them food, as well as watching shows about monks on TV.”
For the last two years, Say has been living with mature cataracts in her left eye. CSC shares that Say “has had to stop working at a rice farm and can only go to the pagoda occasionally. She can’t watch Buddhist programming on TV anymore. And, it’s very difficult for her to travel long distances and recognize faces.” Say tells our medical partner that she is “sad that she can’t work at the rice farm anymore and is most excited to be able to look after her house after receiving treatment.”
For $150, we can provide Say with the cataract surgery she needs to restore her vision. Let’s help Say regain her eyesight so she can return to taking care of her home and spending time at the pagoda!
