Ozana is 11 months of age and is the youngest of three siblings. They live together with their grandmother, who is their primary caretaker, as their mother works in another district in Tanzania.
In March of this year, Ozana received a Watsi-funded operation to treat a scalp wound infected with necrotizing fasciitis.
He now requires another skin graft and flap surgery to fully repair his head injury. Our medical partner, Mission Restore, has scheduled this surgery for May 5, and they are asking for $1,376 to cover Ozana’s medical bill. This will pay for Ozana’s surgery, hospital stay, and follow-up physiotherapy sessions.

Ozana underwent reconstructive surgery.
Ozana successfully underwent reconstructive surgery! By receiving a skin graft procedure, his scalp wound, caused by an IV infection, will be able to heal. Ozana was discharged a couple days after surgery, when he returned home with his grandmother.
After months spent in the burn unit, Ozana’s grandmother is excited to bring him home and relieved that both skin graft procedures were successful.
